The Miami Spice Has Acquired Euro League Pro Melissa Dalembert
The Miami Spice is very excited to have an active Euro League professional player like Melissa Dalembert on the roster.
Melissa is currently playing for TSV 1880 WASSERBURG basketball team (Germany-DBBL).
“I followed Melissa Dalembert through her entire career from high school all the way to the pros. She is a solid 6 foot 4 inch post player that can rebound and run the floor. Our goal is to win a championship in the inaugural season and I believe that Melissa will be a very big part of what we are trying to accomplish here at the Miami Spice.” Says Spice General Manager – Billy Carson.
Averaged an impressive 18 points and 14 rebounds per game as a senior at Miramar High School … Was a first team All-State 6A selection, as voted on by the Florida Sports Writers Association, and was named to the Sun-Sentinel Fab Five team following her senior season … Was also team captain and Miramar’s Most Valuable Player … Named to the Big 8 All-Tournament Team and was tabbed the BCAA Scholar Athlete of the Year … Averaged 14 points and 12 boards during her junior campaign en route to second team All-State kudos while also being named to the 6A state championship all-tournament team … Also attended Hallandale High School in Hallandale Beach, Fla.
Melissa came to USF with tremendous raw ability and proved during her first three years that she can improve and develop quickly … Can get up and down the floor extremely well and is a good rebounder and shot blocker … Has the ability to face the basket … With her ability she has had no problem fitting into USF’s offensive system.

2008 (Summer With The Canadian National Development Team)
Was selected as a member of the Canadian Women’s National Development Team and played in a three-game pre-Olympic International exhibition series against the Chinese National Team
Melissa has also played several years with the Miami Rain semi pro team before go pro in Germany.
Full name is Melissa Dalembert … Goes by the nickname of Slym or D-Bert … Born on April 10, 1987 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada … Daughter of Yvrose Raymond … Is majoring in international business affairs at USF … Has one brother, Samuel Dalembert (28) who is currently playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Samuel has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets and is currently with the Milwaukee Bucks. He attended BIG EAST foe Seton Hall University … Was drafted in the first round (26th pick) of the 2001 NBA Draft after his sophomore year with the Pirates … Melissa played two years of volleyball in high school and was team captain as a senior. Enjoys cooking and talking on the phone in her spare time.
